Hola chicos y bienvenidos a mi podcast. Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que hablado en español y quiero crear un espacio seguro para aprender, para hacer errores y para sentirnos comodo. Este episodio de mi podcast es sobre mi aventura aprendiendo español y mis consejos para mejorar mi fluidez. Me siento muy afortunada de tener una sistema para apoya mis objectivos en mi vida. Hello guys and welcome to my podcast. It has been a long time since I spoke Spanish and I want to create a safe space to learn, to make mistakes, and to feel good and comfortable. This episode of my podcast is about my adventure learning Spanish and my tips for improving your fluency. I feel very fortunate to have a system to support my goals in my life. Cuando era pequeña, no aprendía el español mucho. Es la idioma segunda de mi madre y porque nuestra familia latina no vivía cerca de nosotros. Fue muy dificíl para aprender español. Mi mamá estaba muy ocupada, estudiaba en la universidad y trabajaba en la escuela como una maestra.
When I was little, I didn’t learn Spanish much. It is my mother’s second language and because our Latino family doesn’t live near us, it was very difficult to learn Spanish. My mom was very busy, she studied in college and then for her Masters and works in school as a teacher.
En la escuela secundaria, recortaron los presupuestos para aprender español. Este situación lo hizo muy dificíl para aprender cuando era peqeña. Incluso le dije a mi mamá que dejara de enseñarme español, cual yo lamento mucho. Muchos años después, cuando tenía catorce años, mi familiia viajó a Ecuador para visitar nuestra familia.
In high school, they cut budgets for learning Spanish. This situation made it very difficult to learn when I was little. I even told my mom to stop teaching me Spanish, which I regret very much. Many years later, when I was fourteen, my family traveled to Ecuador to visit our family.
Yo estaba avergonzada porque todo mi familia dependía de mi madre para comunicarse con nuestra familia. Yo quisé aprender español y descargué la aplicación Duolingo para ayudarme. Después de pocos días, paré de aprender porque no me sentía motivada. Mirando hacia atrás, estoy muy orgullosa de poder hablar en español. Aunque no es perfecto, yo practico y trato mucho para mejorar.
I was embarrassed because my whole family depended on my mother to communicate with our family. I wanted to learn Spanish and I downloaded the Duolingo app to help me. After a few days, I stopped learning because I did not feel motivated. Looking back, I am very proud to be able to speak Spanish. Although it is not perfect, I practice and try a lot to improve.
No he hablado español en mi podcast en mucho tiempo. Para mi, es muy dificíl prepararme porque quiero asegurarme que no hay errores. Si tu estás en la misma situation; quieres aprender español y no quieres sentirte avergonzado hablando en frente tu familia, este episodio es para ti.

Take it from me; 5 years ago, I could not speak very well. After practicing, I have a few tips to improve your fluency. You need to work a lot and be resilient because learning a new language is not easy. So, welcome to my podcast, and let’s get started.
El primero manera para mejorar su fluidez en español es escuchando historias. Después de un tiempo, recordarás palabras y comprenderás el significado. Este manera ayuda tu fluidez porque tu comprendes el contexto sin ingles. Es importante aprender español sin comparar las palabras en ingles.
The first way to improve your fluency in Spanish is by listening to stories. After a while, you will remember words and understand their significance. This method helps your fluency because you understand the context without English. It is important to learn Spanish without comparing words in English.
Recomiendo escuchar podcasts de Duolingo porque ellos compartan historias sobre la cultura; valores y creencias. Duolingo colabora con los locales y los indígenos para compartir sus historias. Adicionalmente, me gusta la longitud de los episodios porque es perfecto para mi capacidad de atención.
I recommend listening to podcasts from Duolingo because they share stories about the culture’s values and beliefs. Duolingo collaborates with local and indigenous people to share their stories. I like the length of the episodes because it is perfect for my attention span.
Segundo, escuchando musica latina es un otro manera para aprender español. Después de un tiempo, recordaras palabras nuevas y sonarías como un local. Todas la palabras no son adecuadas, entonces, no repitas las frases en público. Recuerdo en el comienzo, fue muy dificíl para comprender el significado. Me gusta como la musica latina representa artistas desde todas partes de americana latina. Escuchando álbumes, canciones, y aprendiendo los acentos también es muy divertido.
Second, listening to Latin music is another way to learn Spanish. After a while, you will remember new words and sound like a local. All words are not suitable, so do not repeat the phrases in public. I remember, in the beginning, it was very difficult to understand the meaning. I like how Latin music represents artists from all over Latin America. Listening to albums, and songs, and learning the accents is a lot of fun.
La tercer manera para mantener tu fluidez es a través de la escritura de tus pensamientos. Aunque mi fluidez no es perfecto, necesito practicar mucho y ser paciente. Después de escribir tus pensamientos, piensa en nuevas maneras para decir tus ideas. Cuando escribes mucho, es beneficial no usar el diccionario porque necesitas preparar tu mente para pensar solo.
The third way to maintain your fluency is through writing your thoughts. Although my fluency is not perfect, I need a lot of practice and patience. After you write down your thoughts, think about new ways to say your ideas. When writing a lot, it is beneficial not to use the dictionary because you need to prepare your mind to think about it on your own.
Otra manera para mejorar su fluidez es a través de la lectura, historias y noticias. Es perfecto para aprender nuevas palabras sin la presión de hacer errores. El contexto es importante durante cuando lees para entender la historia. Recomiendo la application “Ewa” para leer y tambien hablar párrafos. Si tu quieres aprender palabras tu usas todos los días, cambia el lenguaje de tu teléfono a español. Agregarías más palabras a tu vocabulario.
Another way to improve your fluency is through reading stories and the news. It is perfect to learn new words without the pressure to make mistakes. Context is important while reading to understand the story. I recommend the application “Ewa” to read and also speak paragraphs. If you want to learn more words you use in everyday life, try changing your phone to Spanish. You will add a lot more words to your vocabulary.
Finalmente, recomiendo hablar con amigos y familia en español para mejorar su fluidez. Es mi manera favorita para aprender porque en el mundo, no puedes estar nervioso cuando hablas. Cuando visitas paises en americana latina, es una buena sensación hablar con los locales sin ayuda.
Finally, I recommend speaking in Spanish with friends and family to improve your fluency. It’s my favorite way to learn because, in the world, you can’t be nervous when you talk. When visiting countries in Latin America, it’s a good feeling to talk to locals without help.
