This was my first solo travel destination and what better place than the motherland? I went here with a personal agenda. Since I am half Irish and half Hispanic, it was a MUST for me to explore my roots and see where my ancestors once lived. I grew up Irish Step dancing and from that felt really connected to the culture. I was anticipating having the time of my life and well, to say the least, it blew me away. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe, welcomed, and especially loved how friendly everyone was. Check out the top 39 places to explore in this beautiful country.

Best Places To Celebrate St.Patrick’s Day In NYC (Manhattan)

Manhattan is the place to be so let’s get into where to celebrate St.Patrick’s Day in this borough!

Irish Bars in Manhattan

  1. Fraunces Tavern Pub, FiDi: My family and I have actually been here before to eat. What’s cool about this place is it’s full of American History. Yeah, before finance bros, George Washington and his squad would pull up and get lit, ahah! Coming here for St Patrick’s day was such a V I B E. This place is super spacious. There are lots of rooms and walkways so you’ll never feel like you’re bumping next to someone and completely stuck. They even had an Irish band and you know, I was F L I P P I N G., Of course, I had to dance I mean come on now! 1000% would come back here on a regular day! Check it out here.
  2. The Dead Rabbit, FiDi: Right next door to Fraunces Tavern is this gem. They have such a cool interior and a great atmosphere. When I went last year, it got really crowded, so we ended up leaving a bit early. 10/10 recommend getting there early to save your spot! Check it out here
  3. Gabby O’Hara’s: This is your best option if you’re around Midtown is this gem of a place. Welcome to Gabby O’Hara’s! This place is somewhere that my Dad has been going to FOREVER. This place is truly giving authenticity at its finest. I have gone here countless times and can say that everything from the ambiance to the food & drinks is nothing short of amazing. I appreciate how spacious the place is too with lots of tables both long and tall that are perfect for drinking & eating! Check it out here!

Irish Performances/Parades in Manhattan

  1. St. Patrick’s Day Parade On March 17th at 11 am: The annual St.Patrick’s Day parade is not one you’ll want to miss. “The parade is held annually on March 17th at precisely 11:00 AM in honor of St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland and of the Archdiocese of New York. The parade route goes up Fifth Avenue beginning at East 44th Street and ending at East 79th Street.” I’d highly recommend grabbing a green bagel, a warm drink, a cold beer & your positive energy! Check it out here.
  2. Cross Border Orchestra Of Ireland, Midtown: If you have the opportunity to see a performance life, RUN do not walk. Head over to the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland and see just how well the Irish are at performing. This 140-person youth orchestra performs straight from the heart. Listen out for the “layers of Uilleann pipes, harp, fiddle, bodhrán and Ulster Scots bagpipes which supplement a full symphony orchestra”. Score your tickets today right here!

Irish Performances/Parades in Manhattan

  1. Park Slope Parade: March 19th at 12:30pm: This parade gets the most turnout aside from the one in Manhattan. Coming from an Irish stepper who has performed in many of these parades throughout my childhood, I always look forward to this one the most. The parade is at Prospect Park West between 9th and 15th streets!
  2. Bay Ridge Parade March 26th at 1 pm: The parade this year is dedicated to all those lost to covid-19 and the hero frontline workers so this is a great way to show support to the community. Bay Ridge is another incredible town in Brooklyn that has so much to offer. The parade always draws in a great crowd with good energy. Check it out here

Irish Bars in Queens

  1. Belle Harbor Yacht Club: What I love about the Belle Harbor Yacht Club is that every age group is represented. You have the older crowd, the middle-aged crowd & the younger ones all joining together to celebrate the one and only St.Patrick’s Day. This beautiful place is right by the water and even has a food truck right outside to satisfy all the cravings. The Rockaway energy is definitely one that stands out! Check it out here
  2. Daly’s Pub, Astoria: Queens is a big borough which means that it needs lots of recs to have everyone covered. This is another fun dive bar that is definitely going to celebrate St.Patrick’s Day!! Check it out here
  3. Cronin & Phelans Astoria: Another recommendation from Queensbuzz.com is, “this neighborhood Irish bar and restaurant serves traditional Irish pub fare like shepherd’s pie and fish n’ chips, as well as American fare. It’s a traditional Irish pub, but has quite a few TV screens for those who like viewing sports events”. I can’t wait to visit this spot myself! Check it out here.

Irish Performances/Parades in Queens

  1. Rockaway St Patrick’s Day Parade: The Rockaway St.Patrick’s Day Parade is always the first Saturday of the month. I think if you happen to be around, it’s a great way to show support to the community. After attending, it was a bit underwhelming. The parade is much shorter, but that could also mean more time to party!
  2. Bayside St.Patrick’s Day Parade: March 25, 2023 at 1 pm: Marching down Bell Blvd between 35th and 42nd Avenues, you’ll be able to see how Bayside, Queens celebrates the lucky Irish people in their lives. Queensbuzz.com recommends this & I’m adding it to my bucket list! Check it out here
