I have had my fair share of stumbling down the mountain and I really wish I had a blog post like this one to tell me the reasons why I should make the change and purchase these bad boys. Hiking is an extreme sport. You endure all weather elements and you need a shoe that will help you along your journey, not bring you down. I remember this one time, my family hiked Manoa Falls, and let me tell you, it had just rained the day before. You can paint the picture, but I think it’s safe to say that a pair of sturdy waterproof boots are a must. Instead of prancing around dry rocks, why not plow through and save your energy for the rest of the hike? It will make your life so much easier, trust me. I feel unstoppable.

I have has my fair share of shopping trips in Europe trying to get “the London look”, and it’s no different here. Feeling like a local is one of the greatest pleasures that travel has given me and it takes 0 effort. You don’t have to do a whole lifestyle change, just invest in a nice pair of boots. One of my goals this Fall was to be more adventurous. To challenge myself to experience new adventures and hikes proves why living in New Paltz is a blessing during the pandemic. My hometown, Brooklyn, is struggling to keep up with social distancing guidelines while providing fun and safe things to do outside, and here I am where the mountains are my backyard. An Annual Review: Are These Hiking Boots Worth It?? Pt 1
After reflecting on all of the adventures I have been on with my favorite hiking boots, it’s time to reflect on if it is worth it! So to start, these boots are fantastic and I would rate them an 8/10. I say that because they are super comfortable, I bought separate soles in them for extra foot support. You can tell the difference when you are hiking with these bad boys versus just ordinary sneakers. Because you can tightly wrap the laces around your ankle, your foot doesn’t slide to the front of the hiking boot when you are going downhill which is a GAME CHANGER.
I cannot tell you how many times my toes would hurt after a hike from being crushed after practically running downhill to alleviate the pain. Secondly, I love how I don’t need to worry about getting them dirty. When I tell you I HAVE GONE THROUGH THE MUD WITH THESE SHOES AND THEY LOOK BRAND NEW THE NEXT DAY, I mean spotless.
An Annual Review: Are These Hiking Boots Worth It?? Pt 2
I was actually overdue to get new snow boots and ended up wearing these just because I didn’t have anything else and THEY WERE PERFECT. Now, it’s 1000% by chance that the first hiking boots I purchased are a steal so that’s why I am being honest with you! I rated them an 8/10 instead of a 10/10 is because of the ankle support. I have really weak ankles from Irish Step Dancing throughout my childhood so I do find myself readjusting the laces to tighten or loosen when needed. Lastly, I don’t think it would be exactly fair to rate it a 10/10 before trying other hiking boots first.
These are super popular and affordable, but I know there are others out there in the industry that have some crazy rules so who knows maybe down the line I will invest in a new pair that I love. For now, these are the go top and the best part is that they are built to last!!! I have already had mine for a little over a year and they look brand new. Now it does depend on how often you hike and so on, but for the amount that I was hiking and wearing, I am very pleased with the results and how long these are going to last me.
