Top Things To Do In Williamsburg
In the last 5-8 years, Williamsburg has been the place to be. It’s kind of crazy how it used to be so run down and that’s for another day, #gentrificiation. From my favorite ramen spot of all time, to some quality time overlooking the NYC skyline from Domino Park, there is something here for everyone to love. If you’re looking to spend some time in Williamsburg, you’ve come to the right place, here are 10+ things to do that’ll make you want to move here yourself.
Things To Do In Williamsburg: Shopping
If there’s one thing to do in Williamsburg, it’s shopping all the vintage thrift stores. Not only is it sustainable, but super cute and trendy. Basically every block has what feels like hundreds of thrift shops to choose from so just pop into any that you come across and see if you run into any hidden gems. Here’s a list of some of the top shops, the ones with stars are my personal favorites!
L Train Vintage**, Grand Street Local, 9 to 5 Vintage ,Beacon’s Closet, Mother of Junk, Other People’s Clothes**, Buffalo Exchange***
The Best Parks In Williamsburg
Head to Domino Park for the best views of NYC. You can relax here after a bite to eat, and enjoy some sun. Laying out in the park could be an hour or the whole day, that’s the beauty of it. There’s a cool smoke shop called Mary Jane nearby if you wanna chill out and nap afterward.
The local pool scene is right here at McCarren Park. If you’ve ever experienced a NYC pool, you may or may not want to after this. The park is a great spot to lay down and if you are feeling a bit hot, head into the pool! The best part about it is that you can always change your mind and go someplace else. After working in NYC for about 3 years, I’d say it’s not worth it, but I’ll let you guys be the judge of that.
Activities For Families, Friends, Kids, & More!
Smogasborg: One of the best events here is Smorgasborg. There are tons of different food vendors offering a tiny taste of its wide range of flavors. If you go in a group, you get to explore so many more foods and figure out which places you want to head to later for dinner. I love that you can try food from so many different cultures all in one spot. Pro Tip: it’s best to get there early so you don’t have to wait on line. Then you can take all the food you got and lay in the park. I still haven’t mastered this so maybe you will on your first try!
There’s no doubt that the weather can be a bit unpredictable which is why heading to either NiteHAWK Cinema or Williamsburg Cinema is your best bet. We all hate the rainy days, but is it really worth staying in your hotel when there are thousands of things to do in NYC? When we’re feeling a bit homesick, this is your best bet because it’s something you’d be doing in your home country! Check out NiteHAWK for the full movie & dining experience and Williamsburg Cinema for just regular movie vibes!
To the historians in the house, head over to the City Reliquary Museum to learn all about the rich history of NYC & Williamsburg. From the historic relics of Williamsburg’s L train or Statue of Liberty postcards, there is something special about supporting the community. Check it out and see all the fun artifacts that make NYC so unique.
The Food Scene is Poppin, Here are My Top Recs
How does one review the best restaurant in NYC? To me, it’s M Noodle Shop here in Williamsburg. M Noodle Shop is nothing short of authentic and refreshing. If you’re feeling a little sick, then take a breather, walk over/train over to MNoodle Shop and they will have you covered. My top recommendation is the Chicken curry soup, I get it every single time and it does not disappoint. Trust me, it’s 1000% worth it.
Another incredible spot is Xi’an Famous Foods. They have hand-seared noodles that were touched by God himself. The spicyness is so delicious in tandem with the noodles. I particularly love the spinach dumplings, and hot searned noodles. Can’t even count on my hands how many times I have been there so you have to trust me. Check it out, I promise you will love it!
If you’re looking for a fancy Thai dinner out, then SEA is your best bet. The vibes are immaculate, the food is delicious, and the ambiance is top-tier. They have great photo ops here if you’re looking to post your heart away on Instagram.
In operation since 1900, Bamontes is one of the oldest family-owned and operated Italian-American restaurants in New York City. It’s an enchanting dining venue with class, love, passion, and tasty foods. Coming here feels like a time capsule into the 1900s with its intricate wall decor and design. I loved the baked clams and rigatoni with vodka sauce. Delicious!
