PORTUGAL TRAVEL GUIDE

Presenting to you, your ultimate Portugal Travel Guide.

Portugal is everything you think and more; there are so many things to do. It has culture, beaches, nightlife, nature, and fun day trips less than an hour away from the city center. From the tiled decorations to the cobblestone streets and architecture, it’s perfect for families, friends, couples, and even solo travelers.

With Lisbon’s charm, Sintra’s mesmerizing castles, Colares’ calm ocean waters, Porto’s wine region, Portimao’s slow-paced ambiance, and, how can we forget about the Hawaii of Europe, the Azores – there are many reasons to visit again and again.

Portugal’s economy is struggling and heavily relies on tourism. Unlike other cities around the world that don’t like tourists, here, it’s the opposite!

Check out your ultimate Portugal Travel Guide and everything you need to know to plan a perfect trip.

PORTUGAL TRAVEL GUIDE: Transportation

  • Air Travel: Lisbon (LIS) and Porto (OPO) are the main international hubs; Faro (FAO) serves the Algarve. TAP Air Portugal offers frequent connections across Europe and the Americas. Azores Airlines connects mainland Portugal with the Azores and Madeira islands.
  • Trains: Comboios de Portugal runs national and regional routes. The Alfa Pendular high-speed train links Lisbon, Coimbra, and Porto efficiently.
  • Buses: Rede Expressos and FlixBus connect smaller towns and beach destinations. Local buses in Lisbon, Porto, and Coimbra are reliable.
  • Taxis & Ride Apps: Uber, Bolt, and Free Now operate in most major cities. Uber is surprisingly more affordable than in other cities like NYC. Tipping (5–10%) is optional on highways, but tolls are common. Streets in old towns can be narrow; park outside historic centers when possible.
  • Tip: Try a Viva Viagem card in Lisbon for discounted fares on metro, tram & ferry rides.
