New York Renaissance Faire: Everything You Need To Know (Updated 2025)

The New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo, NY, deserves all the hype. It’s the most festive way to welcome Fall and get into the mystical spirit. It’s a time warp to medieval Europe, where you get to live your Renaissance fantasies. Dress up as anything you want, from a princess to a pauper, and even at the cool themed events, there’s always a reason to want to come back to the Renn Faire. It’s perfect for kids, families, couples, and even going solo. Immerse yourself in this interactive village with artisan shops, live shows, food, activities, games, and jousting.

The New York Renaissance Faire runs from August 16th up until October 6th in Tuxedo Park, NY (just about an hour’s drive from NYC). Parking is free, and tickets start at $20 for kids and $48 for adults.

Tips for Navigating Renaissance Faire

As someone who has gone for four years, I have tips that will help you navigate the New York Renaissance Faire and give you the best experience! From how much to bring to tips on saving money and making the most of your time, follow these tips, and you’re guaranteed to have fun.

  1. Arrive Early: This is usually how it is for most events, but arrive early. Parking is free, so if you arrive later then you’re parking ALL the way in the back and pay for those spots. Traffic is also an absolute mess, so getting there prevents you from being in bumper-to-bumper traffic for an hour. Trust me, I have been there before, and it is not fun!
  2. Bring Cash: If you want to get your tarot cards read, and purchase souvenirs, etc, then you know it, CASH is KING and you avoid all the fees. They recommend $150 to $200. ATMs charge a hefty fee, and the lines are ridiculously long, so save your money and take it out ahead of time.
  3. Dress Up: It’s so much fun to play the part and dress up! Find an outfit, and hey, they even have some great corsets and hair pieces you can buy there for an affordable price. You’ll have to keep your eye out for the best deals and know that if some of the clothes have any rips or stains, get that discount!
  4. Look at the Map: Just a glance at the map will help you navigate what you do and DON’T want to do. I wouldn’t stress this too much because not having a plan always works out for the best! They have a storyline throughout the Renn Faire, but you have to go to select spots at certain times. Each of the shows is in a specific order that runs throughout the day. If you want to know the storyline, then ask any of the workers, and they will know exactly what you are talking about!
  5. Eat Before & After: The food is so expensive, so it’s best to eat somewhere else. It wouldn’t hurt to grab a bite, but don’t spend a fortune on mediocre food. From experience, the best part isn’t the food, so you’re not missing much.

Which Weekend To Go?

Now every weekend is the correct answer; however, the New York Renaissance Faire has themed weekends that might spark particular interest for a particular date (or to avoid one!)

  • Time Traveler Weekend: August 30, 31, September 1, 2025
  • Pirate Weekend: August 23, 24, 2025

Highlights of the New York Renaissance Faire

I always have a blast here, so it’s only fair to share the best tips and tricks, and inspo for a great day trip! I can’t wait to go again this year and feel like I’m living in the olden days.
