If you want to visit for the Día de los Muertos festivities in Mexico City, travel around later October through mid-November. The big Grand Day of the Dead Parade changes every year so plan ahead.
If you’re traveling to Cancún or other tropical places, then avoid the rainy, seaweed season from April to September. I’ve known people who got caught in this, it lasted their entire trip so plan ahead and thank me later.
