Best Restaurants In Rockaway (From A Local)
Rockaway is easily one of the most difficult places to get to from the rest of NYC, and because of that it is the most underrated. The good part is that once you get there, everything is in very close proximity to each other. This trendy town really has it all, but most importantly, you will never starve here. Since growing up not too far from here, I have been here countless times over the years and created the best places to eat in this cute town. Let’s get into it, shall we? Here are the best restaurants in Rockaway!
Best Restaurants In Rockaway
If You’ve Never Been To Rockaway
- Whit’s End: This hidden gem is seriously underrated. Great vibes, live music & delicious food. From fresh-caught fish to wood oven pizzas, Whit’s End is the best place! Pro Tip:10/10 recommend getting the Margherita, Soppressata pizza, burrata, and jumbo shrimp & it’s BYOB
- Thai Rock: If there is something Rockaway does right it’s knowing how to throw a good party and bringing good energy. This place actually got me hooked on Thai food with so many good options like pineapple fried rice, chicken satay & more! Pro Tip: During the summers, they have jet skis and a floating island water park.
- Rockaway Beach Surf Club (Tockaway Beach): If you’re looking for cheap bites, Tockaway Beach for sure is your go-to. It’s best to go in the summertime as it’s such a cute beach town. Pro Tip: Get the watermelon juice & of course the tacos!- it’s delicious!
POV: You’re Dining With Picky Eaters
- Pico: Another fabulous spot is Pico. They have one of the most aesthetically pleasing restaurants right in the heart of Rockaway. Pro Tip: People in Rockaway are super casual so whether you’re coming from the beach or dressing up, this place is perfect for any occasion.
- Bungalow Bar: This is a great spot with a nice view of the water. You can choose from indoor to outdoor dining options depending on the weather. Pro Tip: This is also a great bar to go to at night!
- Harbor Light Pub: My family has gone here multiple times and we love it here. The ambiance is great and the service is 10/10. Pro Tip: They have an unlimited cocktail brunch (mimosas, bloody marys, screwdrivers & beers)
- Plum Tomatoes by La Sorrentina: Sometimes all you need is a tasty pizza and this affordable option just might win your heart. Pro Tip: You get 10% off your first online order
Impressing Someone? Fancy Dinner Spot Over Here
- The Rockaway Hotel: For a fancy night out, this place is certainly it. You have live music, great food & have I mentioned a fantastic view of the ocean. Pro Tip: It’s a bit overpriced in my opinion so in my opinion get some appetizers and a drink and eat a big meal beforehand.
Extended List: Howard Beach
- Lenny’s Clam Bar: Just over the Cross Bay Blvd Bridge, is one of the best Italian restaurants EVER. Lenny’s Clam Bar is too good not to visit. It’s only a 12-minute drive from Rockaway and it’s worth it. Pro Tip: They offer family take-out packages true family style.
- Mateos: Howard Beach knows how to do Italian food and this is no exception. Mateos has the best food. Pro Tip:1/10 recommend getting the pasta and the baked clams, it is out of this world.
