Best Reggaeton Bars In NYC You Need to Perreo All Night Long

Best Reggaeton Bars in NYC: Viva Toro Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Images By: TheBrooklyniteAbroad.com

When one of my favorite reggaeton bars in NYC recently closed, I knew that I needed a backup list of equally nice places. Currently, as a Latino community, the struggle is very real. We’re not talking about listening to “Gasolina” or “Hips Don’t Lie”, we’re talking old school Winsin y Yandel, Rauw Alejandro, Bad Bunny & even up and coming artists like Young Miko and Bad Gyal (and many more). My old favorite spot, Papatazul, announced they were closing, and my heart broke. I loved that spot. It felt so safe to throw it back and be in a community of people who appreciate the same music with DJs that seriously outdid themselves every time. This blog post goes down the list of runner-ups to the best reggaeton bars in NYC.

In some situations, it’s not about finding the bar, but moreso following the DJs or specific events. With our favorite artists releasing new albums and singles, IG accounts like perreo party, v5newyork, thelatinsocialnyc hosts perreo parties in the city, perfect for if you want to listen to a specific artist in general (ex, Bad Bunny themed night), visit a bar on your bucket list, or planning a party!

Best Reggaeton Nightlife in Brooklyn

  1. Viva Torro (Williamsburg/Bushwick): If you’re looking to live it up, dance the whole night, and forget you’re not in Puerto Rico, this spot is exactly where you want to be. They check everything off, central location making it easy for people coming from Queens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn, incredible interior design, great drinks, fast service, and most importantly, great vibes from the music and DJs.
  2. Bembe (Williamsburg): This place is great for so many reasons. They not only have Latin music, but also Reggae, Afrobeats, Reggaeton, and more! If you have a chance to spend the day in Williamsburg, you’ll want to check out this spot later in the day.
  3. Republic Latin Fusion Nightclub (Williamsburg): This place is huge and offers ticketed Reggaeton events, promising a good time. If you’re in the area, definitely consider bar hopping, or even if Bembe is too crowded, check it out, add to the list, and go go go!

Best Reggaeton Bars in Manhattan

  1. Bar 13 (Union Square): I have been here a few times already, so the boots on the ground research is viable! This place is always a great vibe! What I love is that they have multiple floors for different music tastes. The only thing is now with reggaeton being so popular, they charge a separate entrance fee for the reggaeton floor, which is odd. Other floors include a rooftop, R&B, Bachata, Reggaeton & more!
  2. The Delancey (LES): Similar to Bar 13, the Delancey also has multiple floors and charges separately for the reggaeton floor. Have also been here a few times and can confirm, it’s a good time!
  3. Papatazul (SoHo) [CLOSED]: It hits too close to home not having this on the list, even though they closed. If you get to experience this place, consider yourself lucky! On their website, they have a notice saying they’re looking forward to the new venture, so what could that mean? I hope they are renovating the place to hold more people.
  4. Gonzales y Gonzales (SoHo): This place is known for their salsa music and incredible dancing from locals! They have live salsa bands, making this an experience like no other. If you like happy hour, check it out Thursday to Sunday from 4-7 pm! As a tip, get food at their restaurant before they turn it into a club, and you avoid the cover charge!
  5. El Coco (Sit Down Bar Vibes): If you’re looking to enjoy a little happy hour accompanied by reggaeton bangers, this spot is perfect. You might not have much conversation, singing your heart out, but just know their food is great, it’s affordable, and there are a few locations in the city to check out!

Top-Tier Reggaeton Bars in Queens

  1. Bad Habits (Astoria) [Sit Down Bar Vibes with some dancing]: If you are looking for a fun night out. This is one of my favorite bars. The only downside is that they don’t have a ton of space to dance, so it’s more of a smoking hokah, casually chilling with friends, watching the game, and great music in the background! That said, when I have gone here countless times, everyone is dancing in their own respective places. When the songs break out into bachata and salsa, that’s when the small dance floor comes to life. Pro Tip: They named a drink after me, be sure to check it out, the Veróniquita: Show me your bad side: an irresistible gin with lemonade & agave. Mint & orange on top for your pleasure. Looking for the best bars in Astoria, keep reading!
  2. HOA Lounge (Astoria): If you’re looking for a specific hookah bar, you’re not going to want to walk past this spot. What really stands out is how spacious it is. Even when it’s crowded, there are tons of open spaces, and the service is top-tier. They have great vibes, so add this to the list!!
  3. Lost in Paradise Rooftop (LIC): This place is on my bucket list for sure! I have heard so many good things about this place, and they are always hosting specific themed nights that make you want to keep going again and again. This place can kind of get crowded, so pack lightly, and it’s not as accessible to transportation, so expect to Uber and don’t cheap out- you’re safety is what matters most!
  4. Northern Boulevard (Multiple Places): Now the reggaeton bars along Northern Boulevard are like taking a time machine back to old reggaeton vibes. Not a single tourist in sight, these places have all locals looking for a good time. Drinks are affordably priced, the vibes are great, and if you are struggling to find parking (which will most likely happen),  there are parking lots along the street, which make this even better! Here are some bars you cannot miss to dance the night away. Places to Check Out: Tete Lounge, Kabu Bar Lounge, Salvaje Social Club, 70 Copas

There You Have It

My holy grail list of reggaeton bars in NYC is right here. When I am looking for a fun night out, if they aren’t playing Rauw or Bad Bunny, then I don’t want it!! Compiling this list brought back so many memories. I’ve never had a bad night in any of these locations, so just rest assured you’re destined for a good time in any of these spots. My one thing about this list is that it’s lacking reggaeton bars in the Bronx, so if you know of any, let a girl know in the comments!
