WELCOME TO THE BAHAMAS

BAHAMAS TRAVEL GUIDE

Presenting to you, your ultimate Bahamas Travel Guide.

Welcome to the Bahamas, a country that is truly magnificent and one you need to visit at least once! If you are considering traveling here, JUST BOOK IT.

Why the Bahamas? The country caters to all ages with tons of activities to do, cultural experiences, recreation and more! To preface this, I was not ready for that Caribbean sun and intense sunburn. After the first day getting used to the heat, I was ready to dive headfirst into paradise because there’s no better way to describe it.

If you’re wondering about the activities, local experiences, and restaurants to visit in the Bahamas? I am your girl and ready to give you the inside scoop!! Ready? Let’s get into it.

Check out your ultimate Bahamas Travel Guide and everything you need to know to plan a perfect trip.

best time to visit

Let’s just start with there is no bad time to visit. As your ultimate Bahamas Travel Guide, this is what to expect each season so you can plan a perfect trip!

Similar to most Caribbean countries, visiting from December to April (the busy season) is ideal due to the lower humidity.

Hurricane season lasts from June to November, so be cautious when booking and be sure to add travel insurance just in case. Other than that, I personally visited during July, and we had a great time.

Visiting during their Independence Day is a unique way to immerse yourself in their culture and see how local Bahamians celebrate life

National dishes

A Bahamas Travel Guide is incomplete without trying some of the country’s staple dishes. Eating like a local is an amazing way to get not only yummy food but a more authentic experience when traveling.

CONCH
Conch can be served in a number of ways. From a fresh conch salad (raw conch with vegetables and citrus), to cracked conch (battered and deep-fried), and conch fritters (fried batter with conch meat), see which way you like best!

BAHAMAS TRAVEL GUIDE: Transportation

  • Air Travel: Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) in Nassau is the main hub; domestic flights connect the islands. Inter-island flights (via Bahamasair or Western Air) are frequent and scenic.
  • Ferries & Boats: Ferries are a great way to travel between islands (like Nassau to and from Paradise Island or the Exumas). Fast ferries like Bahamas Ferries connect major islands daily.
  • Taxis & Ride Apps: No Uber/Lyft. Use official taxis; fares are fixed by zone. (My personal rec is Atherna Taxi & Private Tour Guide: WhatsApp #: +1(242)443-8890.
  • Driving: Left-hand driving (British style), Roads can be narrow; drive cautiously on outer islands.
  • Tip: Book ferries or flights early, they fill up fast during high season (Dec–Apr)
